Taxes in Bratislava may go up
Bratislava, 29.11.2023
The Slovak capital wants to increase the property tax by an average of 35 percent and the waste fee by 30 percent, Bratislava mayor Matúš Vallo and the mayors of Bratislava boroughs announced on Tuesday. "We decided to take this unpopular and difficult step with the mayors because we have no other way to preserve services and quality of life," Vallo said. Councillors will decide whether the tax and fee will increase next month. Bratislava and its boroughs talk about three reasons why they decided to raise taxes: limitation of their incomes by the previous governments, high inflation and economic forecasts that assume lower revenues from the main income of municipalities - the tax on the income of natural persons. In the case of real estate tax for flats and houses, it is proposed to increase the rate, depending on the location, from the current €0.90 - €1 per square metre to €1.20 - €1.35 per square metre. The amount for the emptying of a 120-litre garbage bin in a two-week interval is proposed to be increased from €86 to €112 per year. odkaz na stránku
