Inflation in Austria slowed sharply to 4.5% in January
Vienna, 23.02.2024
Inflation in Austria slowed sharply at the beginning of the year. In January, compared to the same period last year, it fell to 4.5%, which was the lowest since December 2021, the Austrian statistical office announced on Thursday. TASR informs about it based on the report of the APA agency. In December, inflation was still at the level of 5.6%. The main reason for its sharp slowdown was the reduction in energy prices for households, especially electricity, in January. Gasoline prices also did not rise as sharply as in previous months. On the other hand, prices in restaurants and hotels continued to grow significantly, by an average of 9.1%. They thus became the most significant driving force of year-on-year inflation, together with rental prices, which also increased by an average of 9.1%. Compared to December, the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages slightly slowed down their growth to 5.4%. odkaz na stránku
