The US threatens to cut off the RBI group

Anna Morris, a senior representative of the Federal Ministry of Finance, met with representatives of the Austrian government and RBI management on Thursday (7/3) and Friday (8/3), EUobserver reported.The Austrian banking group Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) got into trouble with the American authorities for its activities in Russia. The US Department of Finance warned the bank that if it participates in the financing of the Russian armed forces, it risks being "cut off from the US financial system".TASR informs about this based on the report of the portal orf.at, which referred to the European internet journal EUobserver. RBI achieved a profit of 1.3 billion euros in Russia in 2023 through its subsidiary. In the country last year, it employed 9,942 people in 490 local branches.
