The labor market faces uncertain times, lifelong learning is needed |

The transformation of the global economy, the impact of artificial intelligence in all spheres of life, and the looming tariff war are creating turbulent times. Conditions on the labor market are also changing faster than ever before. Lifelong learning can help companies and employees cope with such changes, experts from the Grafton recruitment agency pointed out.
They recalled that industrial production, which is the backbone of the Slovak economy, is currently facing new challenges. While employers from this sector were recently talking about missing workers, there are now reports of production cuts, job cuts, and employee reductions.
In this context, HR professionals regularly point out the need for changes in the education system to achieve a better qualification structure of school graduates in relation to the focus of the economy. A broader range of individual study fields is also important, which can thus better respond to the changing situation, for example, to the transformation of professions due to the impact of artificial intelligence.
“High schools in particular should offer study programs that are not narrowly specialized, but have, for example, an overlap with technology. Thanks to their orientation to several sectors, they will allow graduates greater flexibility in choosing a job,” explained Grafton Marketing Director Jitka Kouba.
According to her, employee education should not end with the end of schooling. “When a manufacturer’s response to changing demand or rising costs is to end production or move it to another country, this usually means that employees look for another job. Those who can offer a potential new employer more skills have a better chance,” the expert explained. These skills can be acquired not only through retraining, but also through courses and training provided by the company.
Workers in production only complete their education with their employer to a very small extent, but as surveys by a personnel agency show, the reason is not their reluctance. "More than 80% of production workers in Slovakia are interested in educational courses and training, but less than 30% of them have this option with their employer," added Kouba.odkaz na stránku |
