| The new Civil Code preserves the value framework of the Family Act. |
| Bratislava, 08.11.2025 |
 |
| The draft of the new Civil Code unifies and clarifies civil law, which is currently fragmented, for example, in the Housing Act or the Family Act. The Family Act is integrated into the Civil Code, while preserving its existing philosophy and the basic principles of family law regulation. The Ministry of Justice (MJ) of the Slovak Republic stated this in response to objections from the opposition KDH. It claims that the changes have been in preparation for more than ten years, so this is not a sudden or politically motivated decision. The Ministry of Justice is also ready to discuss KDH's comments."The new Civil Code is based on the monistic principle. This means that it unifies and clarifies the regulation of civil law, which is currently fragmented across various laws – for example, in the Act on Housing and Non-Residential Premises or in the Family Act. The aim is to create a coherent and citizen-friendly code that will simplify navigating legal regulations," responded the ministry's spokeswoman Barbora Škulová in a statement.odkaz na stránku |
