| U. S. Steel remains in Slovakia |

| Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) held talks with representatives of U. S. Steel Košice and its parent company, Japan's Nippon Steel, on Wednesday. In June of this year, Nippon Steel, Japan's largest steel producer, closed the purchase of the American company U. S. Steel for $14.9 billion (€12.86 billion). According to the Prime Minister, U. S. Steel will remain in Slovakia and they also discussed decarbonization and modernization of its production with company representatives.
"We are pleased that this acquisition has taken place and that U. S. Steel will remain in Slovakia. The continuation of the plant will contribute to the stabilization of employees and the preservation of jobs in eastern Slovakia," the Prime Minister said on social media.odkaz na stránku |
