OZ Take naše wants to reverse the trend of emigration through remote work
Bratislava, 09.06.2025
The phenomenon of rural depopulation and the departure of economically active residents remains an urgent challenge across. In response to this problem, the civic association (OZ) Take naše from Veľký Šariš joined the transnational project Danube4Rural.com. The director of the association, Katarína Romanová, informed that the aim is to reverse the trend of emigration through an innovative model of measures aimed at attracting qualified professionals working remotely to rural areas. As part of the Interreg Danube Region Programme 2021 - 2027, the Danube4Rural.com project brings together 12 project partners and 11 associated strategic partners from 11 countries. “We appreciate the opportunity to be part of this initiative, which aims to co-create and test modern policy solutions that will present rural areas as attractive and viable places to live and work in the digital age,” said Romanová, adding that this is a great opportunity to show how rural communities can be transformed into places full of opportunities and innovation. The project will focus on developing a rural governance model that will help local and regional governments create targeted and inclusive policies in three main areas - quality of life, financial incentives and improving the regulatory framework. These packages of measures will be designed and tested in ten disadvantaged rural pilot areas with the support of research institutions, public and private employers, public policy experts and community representatives. “Through this project, we want to create permanent conditions for attracting remote professionals, such as digital nomads or hybrid workers, who value quality of life, flexibility and meaningful connection with the local environment,” added the project coordinator of the NGO Eva Kocanová. The Danube4Rural.com project is co-financed by the Interreg Danube Region Programme. The total value of the project is more than 2 million euros, with 80 percent being a subsidy. According to Romanová, the NGO Take nase plays a key role in the project. “We are mainly involved in the implementation in the pilot area in the city of Stropkov, the organization of public events, policy testing, research, communication, stakeholder engagement, etc.,” added the director, adding that the total budget in their case is more than 160,000 euros.odkaz na stránku
