| The APEC 2008 CEO Summit event will take place from 20 to 23 November 2008, in the frame of the Leaders Week. These annual meetings, which are the most important sessions of the Business and Economy representatives, have become the symbol of APEC public and private cooperation, whose main objective is to contribute with the development of the Asia Pacific.
The Summit, that begun in 1996, gives the chance for Asia Pacific businessmen to attend the presentations from businesses, academic and opinion leaders from the world, as well as the APEC Heads of States. Besides, it works as a discussion forum about critical aspects in terms of economy and business.

• He urged the business community to work for an economic growth that includes Social Responsibility practices.
During his participation in the APEC 2008 CEO Summit, Hu Jintao, Leader of the People´s Republic of China, noted that is crucial to strengthen cooperation ties between the international community to promote the global economic development, and facing the current financial crisis.
He said that his Economy is doing what is possible to collaborate with a solution to this situation and has taken necessary measures to make his financial system offer a stability guarantee, support the financial markets, and improve the macroeconomic cooperation and the coordination with other Economies.
Also, encouraged the international community to take lessons from this crisis, and adopt measures to establish another international financial order that could be more just. “Developing countries must have a voice and representation in the international financial institutions”, he stated.
He said that People´s Republic of China is clearly aware that it still is the largest center of development in the world, and will continue with this view of scientific development that advocates a balanced and sustainable growth. "Rather than rely on increased consumption of material resources for measuring development, we will do so through scientific and technological progress."
He also indicated that his Economy will encourage “a green production”, in order to promote and guarantee a development that isn’t against an ecological care. And will ensure implementation all social undertakings that are focused on improving the living standards of Chinese citizens.
On the other hand, he pointed that Asia-Pacific region, is today a driving force of global economic growth and recalled the commitment that the APEC Leaders have assumed with the Bogor Goals realizations and the economic cooperation strengthening of the region.
Thus he urged the participants of this event to join hands and do the best efforts to guarantee the sustainable development for the Asia-Pacific region. “It is imperative that the companies also assumes their role and promote a new environment for development, along with the business social responsibility”.
