| Slovakia and Development Aid: Challenges and Experiences |

| Under the auspices of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic a conference - Slovakia and Development Aid: Challenges and Experiences will be held on 28 January 2009 at the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bratislava. The aim of the conference is to evaluate first five years of Slovakia’s role as a donor of the international development aid. Several important foreign guests have confirmed their participation at the conference. Among others, Mr. Bert Koenders, Minister for Development of the Netherlands, Mr. João Cravinho, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal and Mr. Jan Kohout, deputy foreign minister of the Czech Republic. Conference will be addressed by several Slovak public figures and representatives of the Slovak development community – Oľga Algayerová, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, Ivan Surkoš, Director of the Slovak Agency for International Development Assistance, as well as Professor Vladimír Krčméry, Dean of the University of Health and Social Sciences and representatives of MVRO – Platform of Slovak non-governmental development organizations. Michal Martikán, Slovak slalom canoeist, Olympic gold medal winner and Sportsman of the year 2008 will also support the event with his presence.
Since 2003 Slovakia implemented under the logo Slovak Aid more than 200 development projects in sixteen developing countries on three continents in total value of € 26 million.
