| Czech Republic awards EUR 4.2 mln thin film solar module |
| Prag, 09.04.2009 |
 |
| Taiwan-based solar company Green Energy Technology (GET) stated that it has won an annual order worth of EUR 4.2 mln to supply thin film module to Czech Republic in 2009. "The Czech Republic's government supports alternative energy and offers an attractive feed-in tariff," GET president Hur-Lon Lin said. "The contract is viewed as one benchmark in developing GET thin film business in emerging markets."
Thin film solar modules use technology based on CIGS (copper indium gallium selenide) arranged on a flexible backing, suitable for both the tops and sides of buildings, tinted windows, cell phones, notebook computers, and cars. The solar panels are attached onto rolled backing.
The Czech government in 2008 offered feed-in tariffs of EUR 0.53/ kWh (CZK 13.46/kWh) guaranteed for 20 years; in 2009, it is expected to reach EUR 0.50/ kWh.
