| Bojko Borisov: If you are not Bulgarian, pack your bags |
| Sofia, 05.07.2009 |

President of Bulgarian party, GERB, Bojko Borisov has the greatest chances of becoming Bulgaria's premier at the upcoming 2009 elections. However, his recent statements have sparked major controversies in Bulgaria, outraging the minorities living there.
"Once and for all, people here should know: In Bulgaria, there are Bulgarian citizens, in Turkey, Turkish citizens, in Serbia, Serbian citizens. That's why we have borders. That's why we have countries. If you feel Bulgarian, welcome, if not, pack your bags and move out to your own country." says Borisov.
In the 90's Mr. Borisov was the bodyguard of Todor Zivkov, the last communist president of Bulgaria. In that time the international community treathened Bulgaria because the country started to force ethnic Turks to change their names and last names to Bulgarian sounding names. According to Bojko Borisov, the Turkish people in Bulgaria should have Bulgarian names and last names that will end with "ov".
"Why can't Bulgaria do this when Greece is doing it. They have been forcing millions of Vlachs, Macedonians, Bulgarians, Turks, Pomaks, Roma to all have "Greek" sounding names for decades. What is it that we will do different than Greece?" says Bojko Borisov.
"This is a scandal! I can't even imagine that someone like Bojko Borisov will have such big ratings in political polls, even though he says the things he says. I feel like a citizen of Bulgaria, and no one can move me from here." says Ahmed Husein, member of the Turkish Minority Party (BRF).
