Chile invited to join OECD
Paris, 15.12.2009
Chile has been invited to become the 31st member of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Paris-based economic watchdog said Tuesday. An agreement formalizing Chile's OECD membership will be signed in January between the Chilean President Michelle Bachelet and OECD Secretary General Angel Gurria, the OECD said in a statement. "For the OECD, the accession of Chile is a great contribution in our drive to expand our global reach and to transform the organization into a more plural and inclusive institution that will play an increasingly important role in the global economic architecture," Gurria said in the statement. Chile began accession talks in 2007 along with four other countries, Estonia, Israel, Russia and Slovenia. It will be the first country out of that group to join the organization. The OECD is a group of 30 mainly rich and industrialized countries, including the United States, Britain, Canada and France. odkaz na stránku
