| Washington, 21.01.2010 |
 |
| Washington - President Barack Obama has proposed publisher Theodore Sedgwick to the post of U.S. ambassador to Slovakia, the White House announced late on Wednesday.
The nomination is yet to be approved by the Senate.
Sedgwick is to replace Vincent Obsitnik who left the ambassadorial post on January 20, 2009, on the day of Obama´s arrival in the White House.
Obama has not yet nominated a new ambassador to the Czech Republic, Slovakia´s neighbour where the ambassadorial post has also been vacant for one year since the departure of Richard Graber.
Sedgwick established a publishing house Pasha Publications in Washington in 1978 that focuses on issues related to energy, defence and the environment. He headed it for over 20 years.
Some time ago he founded the Io Energy company that provides online information on gas, coal and energy industry.
In the past he headed the Red Hills Lumber Co., wooden floors producer.
Sedgwick, according to the White House´s information, also sits on the boards of a number of private companies, as well as cultural and environmental institutions.
