| EU promises Turkey accession progress by July |

Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos vowed Monday to open new European Union accession chapters for Turkey before Spain's presidency of the bloc ends in July.
"It's very difficult to say how many chapters, but obviously some chapters will be opened during the Spanish presidency" of the EU, Moratinos told a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.
Turkey began EU membership talks in 2005, but the following year saw the EU freeze talks in eight of the 35 chapters which candidate countries must successfully negotiate prior to membership.
That followed Ankara's refused to implement a protocol to open its air and sea ports to Greek Cyprus until the EU moves on its pledge to ease the international isolation of Turkish Cyprus.
