New government sworn in

The new Finnish government of Mari Kiviniemi was today sworn in by President Tarja Halonen. I will follow the course of my predecessor Matti Vanhanen, the new prime minister underlined. Kiviniemi takes over the post as cabinet leader from party colleague Matti Vanhanen who has headed the Finnish government over the past seven years. Vanhanen requested replacement because of health reasons. The new cabinet is identical with Vanhanen’s team, with the only exception of the prime minister and the post as Minister of Municipal and Regional Affairs, which has been taken over by Tapani Tölli from the Centre Party. The Government headed by Prime Minister Mari Kiviniemi consists of 20 ministers. The Centre Party and the National Coalition Party have eight ministerial posts each. The Green League and the Swedish People's Party both have two ministers. -The government has as its goal to preserve economic stability, strengthen preconditions for sustainable growth and Finland’s competitiveness, promote equality, protect the social constructions, as well as to build a low-emission Finland, Kiviniemi said in her speech when sworn in by the President’s today. 23.06.2010 odkaz na stránku
