The Ministry of Agriculture is announcing a call for contributions for local action groups (LAGs) from the new programming period amounting to over 166 million euros. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Richard Takáč (Smer-SD), in the presence of the general director of the Agricultural Payment Agency Marek Čepko and the chairman of the Association of Towns and Municipalities of Slovakia (ZMOS) Jozef Božik. The call lasts until February 16, 2026, and LAGs can submit applications starting January 1 of next year."As of today, we are announcing a call in strategic plan number 3 SP 77.1, regarding the submission of applications for the provision of contributions and the granting of the status of local action group from intervention 77.1. Leader within the strategic plan," the agrominister explained.According to him, the Ministry of Agriculture is offering not 5% from the strategic plan, but as much as 8%. "We thus belong to the top ranks in the entire European Union, having allocated the highest percentage that the European Commission allows us, which is 166.7 million euros," specified Takáč."The call, to which the local action groups will apply, lasts from today until February 16, 2026. Local action groups can submit applications from January 1 to February 16 of the next year," added Takáč. He noted that the utilization of funds for local action groups from the old programming period, which ends this year, was low. "When we took office (in the government) at the end of 2023, the contracted rate was at 25%; currently we are at a 95% contracting rate. The utilization of financial resources at the end of the year, which the previous administration handed over to us, was at 5% and currently we have an utilization rate of around 55%. We expect that we will manage to utilize around 90% of financial resources (allocation) in local action groups," added the Minister of Agriculture. "About 80 to 90% of investment funds (for municipalities) come from the European Union, which we use to reduce the enormous modernization debt that we have, for example, in comparison to the Czech Re. "Therefore, if today the minister announces that a new call is being made with more than 166 million euros allocated, we can only consider this to be good news for our municipalities and local governments. From 2026 to 2029, they will be able to apply for these resources through local action groups, and at the same time, this methodology significantly supports inter-municipal cooperation," added the chairman of ZMOS.public," added Božik.
