| Julius Baer proposes Switzerland introduce bad banker registry |
| Geneva, 09.02.2026 |
 |
| The CEO of Swiss bank Julius Baer is proposing to introduce a register of bankers who have failed to fulfill their professional duties. Registering financial market participants brings obvious benefits, Stefan Bollinger said in an interview with the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ). TASR reports this based on a report by Reuters.
Similar systems have already been introduced by the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Singapore, Bollinger said, adding that Switzerland would benefit from such a move in the long term. "It prevents bad actors from just crossing the street and continuing as if nothing had happened," he explained.
Asked about speculation that Switzerland's largest bank, UBS, is planning to move its headquarters to the United States, Bollinger said that Switzerland is still seen as a mark of quality. “I believe that being a Swiss bank is advantageous for UBS, especially in these times,” he said, emphasizing that clients are turning to Switzerland, where they seek stability and predictability in an environment of geopolitical uncertainties. “There is a strong trend that international clients also want to keep their money in Switzerland again,” Bollinger concluded.odkaz na stránku |
