Almost two-thirds of employees receive minimum meal allowances
Bratislava, 07.04.2026
The share of employees receiving a meal allowance at the legal minimum level has increased. While in 2025 53% of employees received a minimum meal allowance, in 2026 it is 62%. The minimum amount of a meal voucher is currently 6.98 euros, while the average price of lunch at the end of 2025 was 8.74 euros. This was reported by Edenred based on its TRC index. According to the company's data, 22% of employees receive a meal voucher in the range of eight to nine euros, 9.7% of people receive a "gastro-lístok" with a value of over nine euros. 8.43% of employees receive the maximum value of 9.30 euros. Data on average lunch prices vary in individual regions - from 6.99 euros in the Trenčín region to 9.71 euros in the Košice region. “The meal allowance is an effective tool for supporting employees and their purchasing power. If it is also credited to a meal card or paid in the form of meal vouchers, the benefit remains purpose-bound to meals, so it also supports restaurants and grocery stores,” assessed Lívia Bachratá from Edenred. The minimum meal allowance in Slovakia is determined according to a legally established mechanism. Since December 1 last year, the minimum meal allowance for a domestic business trip from five to 12 hours has been 9.30 euros. The minimum value of a meal voucher is 75% of this value, i.e. 6.98 euros. The employer pays at least 55% of the value of the meal voucher, currently 3.84 euros. odkaz na stránku
