| The Slovak agricultural sector will receive €662 million in aid in Campaign 2026 |
| Bratislava, 15.04.2026 |
 |
| The Slovak agricultural sector will receive 662.1 million euros in aid in Campaign 2026. In the first pillar (direct payments), it will be 445.3 million euros and in the second pillar 216.8 million euros. This was announced on Tuesday at a press conference by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic, Richard Takáč (Smer-SD), with the participation of the Director General of the Agricultural Payment Agency (PPA), Marek Čepek, and the Director General of the Rural Development and Direct Payments Section of the Ministry of Agriculture, Dušan Gábor.
According to Takáč, applications can be submitted from April 15 to May 15, 2026. "It is possible to submit applications after May 16, until the end of May, but that already involves a penalty for the farmer. Based on data from Campaign 2025, we know that last year more than 90% of applications were submitted by May 15," the Minister of Agriculture announced.
According to Takáč, the deadline for paying the livestock unit payment is August 3 of this year, with advances being paid from November 2. "The deadline for paying decisions is December 1, and payments based on issued decisions will begin on December 3, 2026," Takáč specified.
According to Takáč, 517 million euros out of the total envelope of 596 million euros, or 86.73%, have been used up in Campaign 2025 so far. "In the first pillar, 377.7 million euros were paid, or 95.11%, without penalties for non-payment by June 30. In the second pillar, 139.3 million euros were paid, or 69.6%," the Minister of Agriculture pointed out.
Takáč emphasized that the PPA is introducing a new intervention from 2026, namely support for animal husbandry in organic agricultural production. "Support for this new measure includes suckler cow breeding at the rate of 300 euros per livestock unit (LU) and sheep and goat breeding at the rate of 700 euros/LU," added Takáč.
"In terms of the number of interventions in the first and second pillars, we are (in Campaign 2026) within the framework of the supports that farmers are used to. In the second pillar, a new intervention is being added, for organic animals. In terms of priorities and innovations, it will be a more thorough control of user relationships - we will control the overlap of the land registry extract with the drawing in the GSAA (geospatial application for support, note TASR), which will result in cleaner user relationships and fewer double declarations," added Čepko.
According to Čepko, in the LPIS (agricultural parcel identification system), the PPA updated 661,000 hectares (ha) of land in eastern Slovakia. "For the second time in history, we have succeeded before the start of the campaign. Our LPIS areas have expanded by 6,200 ha during the update. In terms of on-site inspections, we are continuing with new, more efficient procedures, the goal is to visit farmers physically during inspections no more than once a year," noted Čepko. According to him, the introduced application will allow farmers to check the status of their application electronically, rather than by phone at the PPA branch.
