The PMÚ confirmed a cartel involving five companies and fines totaling over €359,000.
Bratislava, 18.09.2026
The Council of the Antimonopoly Office (PMÚ) of the Slovak Republic confirmed the existence of a cartel involving five companies in a public procurement process and imposed fines totaling €359,100. The anti-competitive conduct involved communication, the exchange of sensitive information, and the coordination of bids for the public tender, the office announced on Wednesday. In its administrative proceedings, the PMÚ examined the activities of the companies MicroStep, spol. s r.o. (Bratislava), Rapèan Servis Detva, Fronius Slovensko, and Azvaro, as well as the business entity REA-S s.r.o. (Brezno), which was the procurer of the goods and services. Through its actions, this entity actively contributed to coordinating the other businesses and thus became a participant in the cartel agreement itself. According to the PMÚ, the anti-competitive conduct consisted of mutual communication, the exchange of sensitive information, and a coordinated approach to preparing bids for the public tender. The Antimonopoly Office identified significant similarities in both pricing and content among the participants' bids. The aim of the cartel agreement was to ensure a win for the company Rapèan Servis Detva. The contract, titled "Intelligent Innovation at REA-S," concerned the supply of a robotic welding and grinding workstation. The PMÚ Council classified the companies' conduct as a serious cartel aimed at predetermining the winner, influencing prices, and allocating the market. Through this coordinated approach, the firms eliminated mutual competition regarding pricing. "The business entities MicroStep, spol. s r. o., Rapèan Servis Detva s. r. o., and REA-S s. r. o. were banned from participating in public procurement for a period of three years, and the company Azvaro s. r. o. for a period of one year," the PMÚ reported. The decision became final and enforceable on September 4, 2026.odkaz na stránku
