Trnava car manufacturer plans to build battery storage
Trnava, 05.05.2025
PCA Slovakia plans to build a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 25 megawatts and a capacity of 49.74 megawatt hours on the premises of the Trnava-based car manufacturer Stellantis Slovakia. It is to be implemented in connection with the intended construction of a local photovoltaic source. This follows from the materials submitted as part of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) process. “The BESS system enables the efficient use of surplus energy from renewable sources by storing it during times of lower consumption and subsequent use during peak energy times, which leads to the optimization of the energy mix and the reduction of the need for electricity generation from fossil fuels,” states the announcement of the change in the proposed activity. According to the published material, battery storage facilities represent one of the key tools for achieving carbon neutrality and meeting the European Union's climate goals in the period from 2030 to 2050. The battery storage system is to consist of ten battery containers and ten transformer and converter containers. Serial production at the Trnava car factory began in 2006. In 2019, it became the first among the plants of the former Groupe PSA to start producing batteries for electric vehicles. The car factory currently generates approximately 3,700 direct jobs.odkaz na stránku
