| Financial report: Digital postmen presented concrete solutions |
| Bratislava, 14.04.2026 |
 |
| The electronic invoicing project is moving into the next phase. At a professional webinar organized by the Financial Administration (FS), digital postmen presented for the first time specific solutions that they are preparing for sole traders, accounting firms and larger companies. FS also showed an educational open-source example of the so-called Peppolbox, which demonstrates the simple possibility of receiving electronic invoices. This was reported by FS spokesman Daniel Kováč.
"For the first time, the professional public has gained a more comprehensive view of what services will be available on the market for smaller and larger entities in connection with the introduction of electronic invoicing," Kováč explained. For large companies, this mainly involves the full integration of accounting systems into the Peppol network, which will enable automatic receipt, matching with orders and posting of invoices without manual intervention. For small entrepreneurs and accounting firms, solutions in the form of web interfaces or mobile applications will be available that do not require immediate integration or investment in a full-fledged accounting system.
"That is why we have prepared an educational example of Peppolbox, which clearly illustrates one of the possibilities of how receiving electronic invoices can work in practice. For example, even an ordinary self-employed person is able to activate a mailbox with a digital postman and start receiving electronic invoices within a few minutes," said Stanislav Pavlovič, General Director of the FS IT Section.
The Financial Administration developed the PeppolBox application as an educational open-source example. It is not a service that the Financial Administration will provide in operation, but an illustrative and educational example for the market. The Financial Administration also made the source codes available to IT companies so that they can use these principles in developing their own solutions.
Other educational tools are also available to the public, such as the Zrobefakturu.sk website for creating electronic invoices or a validation tool for checking invoice data. FS also reminds that additional support and educational materials for entrepreneurs, accountants, software manufacturers and IT companies are available on the Financial Administration Portal and on the specialized website www.info-efaktura.sk. Recordings of all webinars are also available on the Financial Administration Academy portal.
Currently, 14 certified delivery service providers, so-called digital postmen, are accredited in Slovakia. Others are in the process of accreditation. The transition to the phase of voluntary use of the Peppol network is planned for the turn of May and June 2026, which gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to test their solutions before full operation from January 2027.
