| Slovak President Peter Pellegrini appointed five new Slovak ambassadors on Wednesday, including current members of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, Peter Kmec (Hlas-SD) and Miroslav Radačovský (unattached). Kmec will represent Slovakia in Italy, Malta and San Marino, based in Rome, and Radačovský in Cyprus, based in Nicosia. Ľubomír Rehák will represent Slovakia in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, based in Astana, Jozef Hudec in the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sudan, Oman, Libya and Chad, based in Cairo, and Rastislav Križan in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Republic of Djibouti, based in Addis Ababa.
In his speech, Pellegrini reminded the newly appointed ambassadors that they had taken on a huge responsibility with this step. "It is a responsibility to represent our homeland and to promote our national interests," the head of state emphasized. She emphasized that no one will evaluate their work based on who writes what or what comment or status they publish, but only on the basis of the decision on assessing the performance of their work by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of the Slovak Republic. According to Pellegrini, they are the only ones authorized to assess whether the performance of their work meets or does not meet the requirements and demands placed on them.
"From now on, all your attitudes, all your steps and activities will also be the steps, attitudes and activities of the Slovak Republic. I believe that this awareness will help you represent your country not only at a high professional level, but also with all honor and healthy patriotism. I wish you much success in these demanding missions," the President added.
